Following recent developments and potential breakthroughs, in both dementia treatment and support, the World Alzheimer’s Month campaign 2022 aimed to highlight the importance of support for people living with dementia and families following a diagnosis. Throughout September, the campaign also highlighted the importance of risk reduction and risk factors, as well as the need to continue raising awareness in order to combat persisting misconceptions and stigmatic ideas ar0und dementia.

The 2022 campaign followed on from the 2021 campaign, which focused on the journey of receiving an Alzheimer’s disease or dementia diagnosis, as well as the warning signs of dementia, the continued effect of COVID-19 on the global dementia community and more.

On World Alzheimer’s Day, 21 September, ADI released the World Alzheimer Report 2022 ‘Life after diagnosis: Navigating treatment, care and support’, which focuses on post-diagnostic support, care and treatment for both people living with dementia and their carers. To mark the release of the report, ADI hosted a virtual report launch which featured a global panel of experts and an open Q&A session regarding the report’s findings.
