After two years of dedicated and persistent advocacy by ADI, dementia will, for the first time, be formally recognised within the new UN Political Declaration on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health, as a leading NCD.
The 78th World Health Assembly has been a whirlwind week for ADI as, after 18-months of advocacy, the World Health Assembly has agreed to extend the Global Action Plan on the Public Health Response to Dementia by 6-years, to 2031.

In April 2024, the world's longest-running global conference on Alzheimer's disease and dementia came to Kraków, Poland, to provide the latest insights, innovations and inspirations on dementia over three days, six plenary sessions, 29 parallel sessions and eight symposiums to over 1000 delegates representing over 100 countries.
ADI CEO, Paola Barbarino took to the stage at the ADI 2024 Conference in Krákow, Poland, to highlight the global and national policy landscape on dementia, providing her perspective on the achievements of ADI in the past four decades and hopes for the future.
