Each September, people unite from all corners of the world to raise awareness and to challenge the stigma that persists around Alzheimer’s disease and all types of dementia.
During World Alzheimer’s Month, we call on everyone, from individuals to large organisations, including every Alzheimer and dementia association globally, to support World Alzheimer’s Month by getting involved in the campaign.
This September, we will seek to tackle the persistent stigma and discrimination surrounding dementia by shining a spotlight on the timely and important issue of early diagnosis under the theme: The Earlier You Know, The More You Can Do: A Dementia Diagnosis Matters.
We know that diagnosis is the key to unlocking a whole raft of treatment, care and support options, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological. During the campaign we will seek to raise awareness of the benefits that a diagnosis can provide to those living with the condition, alongside carers and the wider society. As research advances we will also highlight the emerging ask risk groups and pre-symptomatic individuals.
ADI will shortly make available a suite of free social media cards, posters and toolkits to support individuals and organisations in promoting the campaign.

World Alzheimer’s Day
World Alzheimer’s Day takes place during World Alzheimer’s Month and is on 21 September every year.
In the build up to, and on the day of, many Alzheimer and dementia associations around the world host memory walks, fundraisers, awareness raising activities and campaigns to bring attention towards those in their community that are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or other types of dementia.
Each World Alzheimer’s Day, ADI releases its annual World Alzheimer Report. Like this year’s campaign theme, the 2025 report will focus on rehabilitation.
