DY reports on her recent visit to the WISH7 conference in Dohar, Qatar. At this global event, DY had the opportunity to meet several key individuals, policy makers and experts from health and care sector including Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus WHO Director General. Ferdinand Lahnstein, Ambassador for the Netherlands in Qatar and Dame Lousie Robinson, Professor of Primary Care and Ageing at Newcastle University and Co- Chair for the ADI Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel (MSAP), Stephen Connor, Executive Director of Worldwide Hospice Palliative Care Alliance and many others. DY shares some of her key highlights from this insightful event.
DY Suharya, Regional Director Asia Pacific Alzheimer’s Disease International participate at the World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH7) event, an initiative of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development 13-14 November 2024 in Doha Qatar.
WISH is a global healthcare community dedicated to capturing and disseminating the best evidence-based ideas and practices.
Over two days, more than 3000 health policy makers, innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers and practitioners convened at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) to look for innovative solutions to world’s most significant health challenge, this year rallying under the conference theme of ‘Humanizing Health: Conflict, Equity and Resilience’
DY Shares her thoughts on the development of WISH:
I have been coming to World Innovation Summit for Health (WISH) since 2016 and it’s fantastic to witness how WISH has grown and developed under Sultana Afdal’s leadership, in 2024 we are welcoming WISH New CEO Dr Slim Salma who brings extensive experience from the World Health Organization. WISH offers the opportunity for everyone around the world to learn the latest innovations in health and it’s also a platform to strengthened the bonds between people around the world.

Among the leading contributors for this year’s conference, Professor Dame Louise Robinson, Professor of Primary Care and Ageing at Newcastle University and Co- Chair ADI Medical and Scientific Advisory Panel (MSAP) spoke on discussion Palliative Care: How Can We Respond to 10 Years of Limited Progress? During the talk, Dame Louis Robison spoke on the importance of primary care community specialists and focus on timely access for palliative care supported by the specialists. Louise included ageing and dementia within her intervention, referencing the challenges of uncertainty and unpredictability in the palliative care pathway of dementia related cases.
