Building Capacity, Building Connections

Through a comprehensive educational programme and a supportive community, ADI aims to empower and equip dementia association representatives worldwide with the expertise and resources needed to strengthen their organisations, and ultimately enhance the quality of life for people with dementia and their carers in their respective countries.

The Vision
  • Ensure that the Alzheimer University (AU) programme is accessible to organisations across the globe, irrespective of geographical location or resource constraints.
  • Offer a diverse range of high-quality educational resources, including online courses, in-person workshops, one-to-one support, and other learning materials and resources.
  • Facilitate opportunities for professional development and skills enhancement for dementia association representatives.
  • Empower participants with the knowledge and skills needed to better structure and manage their organisations and become effective advocates for dementia-related issues.
  • Enhance the learning experience by delivering content in engaging and accessible formats.
  • Foster a collaborative and supportive global community where participants can exchange knowledge, share best practices, and collaborate on various initiatives.
  • Strengthen collaboration with member associations, leveraging their expertise and local insights to enhance the relevance and impact of the AU programme on a regional and national level.
  • Regularly gather feedback from participants, member associations, and other stakeholders to adapt and tailor the AU programme to meet evolving needs and expectations.
  • Establish clear metrics to assess the impact of the AU programme, including participant satisfaction, knowledge acquisition, and the real-world application of skills and insights gained through the programme.

Alzheimer University Pathways

Pathway 1: Membership Development Programme (MDP)

Aimed at new and emerging associations aspiring to become members of ADI, this two-year comprehensive programme offers a blend of workshop participation, peer learning review sessions, drop-in surgeries, and hands-on application. Each session requires two participants per association, facilitating knowledge transfer and sustainability within their organisations. Participants will gather for an in-person event in London, UK during the first year of the programme. Upon completing the two-year programme, Pathway 1 graduates will receive a certificate, after which their association becomes eligible to apply for ADI membership.

Pathway 2: Modular learning programme

Existing members can register for individual workshops based on their organisational needs. Participants can pinpoint areas for development and register for specific modules through an online form. They are also invited to attend the monthly drop-in surgeries.
