*Brazil* Zelar©: a person-centered dementia educating programme

Zelar© is an open access educational programme for PLWD, carers and professionals. The programme is designed to enhance quality dementia care and support, based on current evidence-based and person-centered practices. It is an opportunity for everyone to learn about dementia, and quality care throughout the course of disease.

The sixty-hour educational programme is a self-paced curriculum, certified by the State University of Londrina. It features eight intersected areas, such as:

  • Dementia and how it affects people
  • Care and support to family and friends
  • Non-pharmacological therapies
  • Pharmacological alternatives
  • Human rights and the ethics of care
  • Searching for support – the role of Alzheimer’s Associations
  • Fighting stigma and changing attitudes
  • Self-care

Zelar© is developed by Febraz, sponsored by Biogen, and partnered with the State University of Londrina.
