Zelar© is an open access educational programme for PLWD, carers and professionals. The programme is designed to enhance quality dementia care and support, based on current evidence-based and person-centered practices. It is an opportunity for everyone to learn about dementia, and quality care throughout the course of disease.
The sixty-hour educational programme is a self-paced curriculum, certified by the State University of Londrina. It features eight intersected areas, such as:
- Dementia and how it affects people
- Care and support to family and friends
- Non-pharmacological therapies
- Pharmacological alternatives
- Human rights and the ethics of care
- Searching for support – the role of Alzheimer’s Associations
- Fighting stigma and changing attitudes
- Self-care
