Global prevalence of dementia: a Delphi consensus study

Commissioned by ADI, this research provides research evidence on the prevalence of dementia worldwide.

In 2005, ADI convened an international group of experts to generate evidence-based estimates for the prevalence and numbers of people with dementia in all regions of the world.

This work was published in The Lancet and is available from their website free of charge (registration is required).

Available here are the documents synthesising research evidence on the prevalence of dementia worldwide, which were reviewed by the expert panel.

Further information on the methods and the results of the analysis are given in The Lancet article: Global prevalence of dementia: a Delphi consensus study. Ferri et al. (366 (9503) (2005), pp. 2112-2117, https://doi.org/10.1016/S0140-6736(05)67889-0 )

This publication was the basis for later prevalence updates, including the World Alzheimer Report 2009 and World Alzheimer Report 2015.
