Dementia care & Palliative care: during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic

This webinar focuses on key issues emerging around dementia care and palliative care during the COVID-19 pandemic, and crucially how these can be taken forward.

How do we distil lessons from COVID-19 and ensure better policies and practices are implemented as part of public health responses to health emergencies? This vital webinar run collaboratively with the Worldwide Hospice Palliative Care Alliance (WHPCA) and HelpAge International examines key issues emerging around dementia care and palliative care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The webinar addressed myriad issues across dementia care, palliative care, and ageing, framing it within the context of Covid-19 and what best practices must be taken forward in addressing what will be one of the biggest global health challenges of the 21st century. The participants were asked to provide one word to describe their feelings about dementia care and palliative care at the end of the webinar and there was a perceptible degree of hope and optimism, and importantly an acknowledgement that they are essential.

The session examines key issues that have arisen around dementia care and palliative care during the COVID-19 pandemic, and focusses on what best practices must be taken forward in addressing what will be one of the biggest global health challenges of the 21st century.
