The Yemen Foundation against ALZ Dementia (YFAD) will be holding a Global Awareness Day in Sana’a on 21 September 2022 from 9am to 1pm AST.
The day will start with a 30-minute presentation about Alzheimer’s disease in general, the current situation in Yemen, statistics, the impact of stigma on social isolation, the importance of early diagnosis and caregiving. This will be followed by 30 minutes of open discussion and a short break. The next 30 minutes will be a presentation about risk factors and relevant diet to enhance cognitive abilities, followed again by 30 minutes of open discussion and closing remarks.
Caregiver experiences and stories of successes/challenges will be shared throughout the programme. The general public can attend this event, and invitations will be sent to the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the WHO country office and various neurologists.
