The Cuban Section of Alzheimer’s (SCUAL), founded on April 16, 1996, unites caregivers, family members, volunteers, people living with dementia, healthcare professionals, and researchers. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life for people living with dementia and their families. SCUAL has been a full member of Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) since 2000.
Their Goals:
- Support family associations and multidisciplinary care groups across Cuba.
- Train healthcare professionals and caregivers.
- Promote scientific research and community support.
- Facilitate family self-help and educational programs.
- Participate in national initiatives for Alzheimer’s prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Raise public awareness, dispel myths, and foster solidarity with people living with dementia and their families.
