The Kazakhstan Alzheimer and Dementia Alliance (KA&DA) was founded by Dr. Radmila Tsoy and Dr. Nurmuhamed Mamashayev in 2024 with support from experts including Professor G. Robert Cumming (University of Sydney), Mrs. Anne Cumming, and Professor Saule Turuspekova (Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University), and has been part of the ADI Membership Development Programme since 2025.
The Alliance’s purpose is to lead change in dementia care across Kazakhstan by uniting healthcare, communities, and government to improve understanding, reduce stigma, and empower patients and caregivers through education, early intervention, and support.
Its mission is to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and other dementias, enhance quality of life for those affected, and integrate dementia care into national health strategies.
Key objectives include:
- Awareness & Education: Launch campaigns and develop accessible materials to inform the public.
- Support Services: Offer regular meetings, consultations, and peer support groups.
- National Dementia Strategy: Collaborate with policymakers to improve diagnosis, care, and prevention.
- Research & Training: Conduct local studies and train healthcare professionals in dementia care.
- Advocacy & Partnerships: Promote dementia-inclusive policies and collaborate with local and global partners.
- Digital Tools: Develop online platforms and mobile apps for support and telemedicine.
- Community Programs: Run outreach events and promote brain health across urban and rural regions.
