*Trinidad and Tobago* Webinar ‘Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s’

Alzheimer’s Association of Trinidad and Tobago will be holding a free Webinar titled ‘Know Dementia, Know Alzheimer’s’ at 5pm (Trinidad and Tobago time) on 25 September 2021.

The webinar will feature two presenters: a medical practitioner/neurologist, who will speak to the 2021 World Alzheimer’s Month theme as it relates to diagnosing dementia, and an educator, trained in Dementia Capable Care, who will give a comprehensive view of the caregiver’s perspective as it relates to knowing dementia and knowing Alzheimer’s disease.

This two-in-one free webinar is a gift to the general public, not just the AzATT membership, in honour of WAM 2021, and in honour of both carers and those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

The webinar is designed to address issues of dementia raised by the public, through phone calls AzATT receives, and to provide a space for discussion. This is AzATT’s way of reaching, not only the many who call AzATT’s office, but those who visit their social media pages seeking assistance.

The evening’s proceedings will open with an anticipated powerful presentation by one of Trinidad and Tobago’s Spoken Word poets. Kayla Parris will deliver her piece which will be dementia-themed.

The choice of having a young person open the webinar is a deliberate one. It has always been AzATT’s view that young people should be leading the fight against Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, for they will be tomorrow’s caregivers.

Following Kayla’s presentation, the speakers will each deliver in turn, after which there will be a question and answer period.
