*Kenya* Mind Walk

The Mind Walk will take place on Saturday 17 September 2022 – location and timings to be confirmed.

The Mind Walk takes place every year during World Alzheimer’s Month and aims to build awareness about Alzheimer’s & dementia whilst supporting those affected.  Its goal is to raise public awareness and fundraise to enable the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Organisation of Kenya (ADOK) to further its agenda in creating dementia friendly communities.

ADOK will work with trained professionals to conduct screening tests, which will include:

  • Cognitive tests
  • Tests for other NCDs (diabetes, blood sugar, weight, blood pressure, BIM)
  • Dietary counselling

ADOK is working closely with the Ministry of Health and other NGOs to ensure that the issue of dementia becomes a public health priority. The association is pushing for policies on dementia and helping finalise and implement the national dementia action plan. This event will also help educate the general public on the issues of dementia, since the Walk is mainly held in a park and brochures will be distributed to inform people about the condition.
