- Diagnostic breakthroughs. We are on the verge of revolutionary breakthroughs, including blood biomarkers, that will offer quicker, cheaper and less invasive diagnostic tests
- Treatment breakthroughs. Just this year we have seen the first FDA approved treatment for Alzheimer’s disease and we are witnessing a surge in activity in the research field
When these factors combine, it is going to put incredible pressure on health care systems and despite calling for preparedness for years and despite the introduction of the WHO Global action plan on dementia, few healthcare systems, if any, have put in place robust strategies to ensure robust, safe and rights-based diagnosis pathways, treatment and support.
